Recovery rates over since 2020 have steadily decreased, however, with the advancement in GPS tracking technology and engine immobilizers, vehicle owners are now in a space where they are able to take matters into their own hands.
Here's the most reported stolen vehicles in 2024 to date:
- Toyota Tacoma - Toyota Tundra - Ford F150 - Land Rover - Range Rover - Land Rover Defender - Jeep Wrangler - Toyota Rav4 - Toyota 4Runner
Is your vehicle on the list? Here's 3 things you should consider adding to safeguard your asset:
1. If your vehicle is financed or lease, make sure you purchase Gap Insurance through your auto insurance company. This insurance will cover the negative amount between your remaining financed amount and the market-value of your vehicle.
2. Be reasonable. Make sure your vehicle is locked and protected, parked in a safe spot and behind a less sought after vehicle.
3. Most importantly, if you are able to, use an aftermarket immobilizer system and a GPS tracking system. The industry is evolving and it is now able to compete against the advancements of vehicle theft.
